A contractor is required to purchase approximately 725 food samples from grocery stores, fast food outlets, takeout restaurants, and specialty food establishments in Calgary, Alberta in autumn 2026, then package and ship them to Ottawa for Health Canada's Total Diet Study food surveillance program.

- Ability to purchase food samples in Calgary, Alberta
- Ability to collect 648 grocery store items, 32 fast food items, 28 restaurant takeout items, and 17 specialty store items
- Ability to package non-perishable items to prevent damage and cross-contamination
- Ability to freeze perishable meats prior to shipping and ship in thermally insulated containers with dry ice
- Ability to ship refrigerated perishable items in thermally insulated containers with ice packs
- Ability to package and ship 205 non-perishable, 352 refrigerated, and 168 frozen items
- Compliance with applicable shipping regulations for food items including frozen and refrigerated goods
- Ability to purchase all required shipping, packaging, and labelling supplies
- Ability to collect food samples in accordance with Health Canada's detailed shopping instructions
- Ability to maintain detailed records of purchases and shipping expenses and submit documentation for reimbursement
- Ability to ship all samples to Ottawa from Calgary
Special conditions
- This is a Request for Information (RFI) only, not a solicitation for contract award
- Four different brands or store locations must be collected for each food item to ensure variety
- Foods must be collected in autumn 2026
- Food integrity must be preserved throughout packaging and shipping
- Cross-contamination between food items must be prevented during packaging and shipping
