Tender summary
The City of Guelph requires a contractor to clean Digester 2 at the Guelph Water Resource Recovery Centre, including excavation for access hatch entry, removal and off-site disposal of all digester contents, interior cleaning of the digester and draft tubes, pressure washing, and restoration of disturbed surfaces.
Key requirements
- Bidder must be a Responsible Bidder with necessary qualifications and experience to perform the work
- Contractor must ONLY enter the digester from the bottom access hatch (not through the roof)
- Utility locates must be performed as required prior to excavation
- Excavation and exposure of access hatch required for digester entry
- Removal and off-site disposal of all digester contents including scum, grit, sand, hair, grease, and sediment
- Cleaning of interior of digester and 4 draft tubes (3 on sides, 1 in center) including all piping and digester equipment
- Removal of all cleaning debris
- Pressure washing to Owner's satisfaction
- Restoration of all disturbed areas including grass and asphalt
- Work must be completed by July 17, 2026
Special conditions
- Entry into the digester is restricted exclusively to the bottom access hatch; roof entry is strictly prohibited
- Confined space entry protocols will be required given work inside a digester
- Work involves a wastewater treatment facility environment
